Currently under development are a new series of animated videos focusing on key areas in the underground environment for new starters. Topics covered include strata control, ventilation, no go zones, spontaneous combustion, tagging and isolation, underground communication, pinch points, emergency response, services and more. The use of tags, hard and soft barricades and isolation devices will be explored. When and how to use them based on everyday activities will be explained.

PINCH POINTS

This mini course will cover the basics around pinch points specifically around machinery and conveyors

COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

During this topic the use of generic underground communication systems such as DAC’s and phones will be explored.

SERVICES

Services such as compressed air and water will be explain in relation to their importance to the operation of a mine. Safety issues surrounding these services will also be explored.

VENTILATION

The basics principles surrounding underground ventilation and the use of permanent stoppings will be explored.

NO GO ZONES

This training will provide employees with a visual association of No Go Zones and Restricted Areas relevant to mobile equipment.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

This video will cover the essential first steps in the unlikely event of an underground emergency or hazadous situation.

SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION

Explaining the principles that lead up to spontaneous combustion, what to look for and how to prevent it.
